Tracy is a native of Richmond , Virginia , where he frequently appeared on stage and in clubs. He moved to Chicago in 1988 and quickly became active in musical theatre, doing shows ranging from 1940s Radio Hour to Joseph…Dreamcoat . He began performing in cabaret settings in 1994. In 1998, Tracy was honored to be chosen as a Fellow to the Eugene O'Neill Theatre Center Cabaret Symposium, where he worked with cabaret luminaries such as Julie Wilson, Margaret Whiting, Kaye Star, Marilyn Lovell Matz, Julie Halston, Babbie Green and Carol Hall. Tracy has become a frequent performer at Davenport 's in Chicago , as well as numerous other clubs and cabarets including Gentry of Chicago, Toulouse , and Pops in Highwood. In 1999, he made his New York City cabaret debut at Eighty-Eights. In 2000, his Work: a four-letter word was recognized by the After Dark organization as one of the year's ten best cabaret shows. Todd Shuman wrote of his Feng Shui and the Pursuit of Happiness show, “Mr. Adams has created a 4-star evening of cabaret that should not be missed. With a great voice and a marvelous stage presence, Mr. Adams is a force to be reckoned with in Chicago cabaret.” Besides performing, Tracy works as a corporate trainer, and in recent years has begun incorporating self-penned music into his shows.
